Op. Dr. Erol UÇANER Urologist

Prostate Cancer

What is Prostate Cancer?

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumour caused by the uncontrolled growth of prostate gland cells. Not every prostate cancer progresses at the same rate; some remain confined to the prostate for a long time, while others may advance more quickly and spread to other parts of the body, especially the bones. There may be no symptoms in the early stage. Diagnosis is not based on PSA or MRI alone; examination, imaging, biopsy and pathology findings are interpreted together. Treatment is planned according to cancer stage, ISUP grade, PSA, general health and personal preferences. The aim of prostate cancer assessment is to interpret the available tests as a whole and define suitable surveillance or treatment options.
